Plot Summary
Karan Thapar (Bobby Deol) is a wealthy young man who lives a lonely life with his business tycoon father Vikram Thapar (Kiran Kumar), mother Kiran Thapar (Lillete Dubey) and sister Nandini Thapar (Karishma Tanna). One day, he is saved by Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar), a poor orphan who lives with his abusive uncle, from a near-death accident. Karan and Raj become best friends and Raj moves in with Karan.
Years later, Raj falls in love with his childhood sweetheart Anjali Saluja (Kareena Kapoor) and wants to marry her. Karan, on the other hand, flirts with Leena Bharucha (Sherlyn Chopra) and dumps her. He then meets Kajal Sharma (Lara Dutta), a London-returned girl, and woos her. She agrees to marry him. Raj's and Karan's weddings are planned for the same day.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Leena and her father, who works for Vikram Thapar, accuse Raj and Karan of being flirts and liars. Kajal breaks up with Karan and Anjali's brother cancels her wedding with Raj. Raj, it is later revealed, is suffering from a fatal disorder and is being treated by Dr. Aditi Walia (Juhi Chawla), who is sponsored by Karan. Raj helps Karan reunite with his family and Kajal. Karan eventually marries Kajal and names his child after Raj.
